Met Éireann- Pre-construction Monitoring
Undertook specialist surveys for breeding Chough and Peregrine Falcon for permitted
air monitoring facility, Valentia Island, Co. Kerry. Project included consultation with NPWS to
agree methodology and consultation with local authority. Production of report for
compliance with planning conditions.
Iarnrod Eireann -Waterfowl Monitoring
Undertook counts of wintering wildfowl and wading birds using Malahide Estuary. The work
was undertaken in order to monitor any changes to wintering bird
populations following remedial work to embankment carrying rail-line across Malahide
Estuary.
Kerry County Council -South and East Kerry Hedgerow Survey
Senior Project Ecologist undertaking hedgerow surveys to prescribed methodology. This was
the third year of a three-year project to describe the extent and condition of hedgerows
throughout Co. Kerry. Surveys involved surveying extent of hedgerows in 1-km squares and
detailed condition assessment and vegetation composition of a sample of hedgerows within
1-km square.
Airtricity - Seabird and Marine Mammal Monitoring
Monitoring of Arklow Bank offshore wind farm
Senior Project Ecologist undertaking all boat-based seabird monitoring following recognised
JNCC methodology. Responsible for data collection and collation. Also undertook monitoring
of Wicklow Head seabird colony, again following prescribed methodology. Responsible for
data collection, analysis and reporting of results.
Tullamore Dew -New Distillery
Undertook all botanical and habitat surveys for the planning application and EIS. Prepared
the botanical and habitat sections for the EIS report including writing appropriate mitigation
measures and providing specialist botanical advice for landscaping proposals.
RSPB - Malltraeth Marsh
Responsible for the establishment and management of a new 270 ha wetland nature
reserve. Undertook all aspects of work including hydrological planning and management, all
bird, plant and mammal surveys, all habitat and estate management and all aspects of
administration including five-year management plan, financial recording and five-year
budgets.
